A lawyer for catastrophic injuries will often target the victims of auto collisions or workplace safety violations in advertisements. A firm’s audience can also include the family members of deceased car accident victims, who number around 37,000 in the U.S. annually. While some ads are serious, others tend to be low-budget productions with cheesy graphics and catchy jingles.

But those tactics weren’t good enough for California law firm Bergener Mirejovsky, who hired actor Danny Trejo for a 30-second black-and-white TV ad.

As far as celebrity endorsements go, Danny Trejo is probably the toughest guy a company can have in its ads. In addition to being featured in the film Machete and having a very memorable role on Breaking Bad, the 71-year-old actor was also featured in a Snickers Super Bowl commercial as a disgruntled and hungry Marcia Brady.

The commercial features some tongue-in-cheek lines from Trejo, true to his career as a hardcore character actor. He stands in front of the camera wearing a leather jacket and no shirt.

“When the boogeyman goes to sleep at night, he checks under his bed — for me,” Trejo says.

“Have you ever wondered who Waldo’s hiding from?” the actor asks while cracking his knuckles. The answer, of course: “Me!”

Trejo also filmed a Spanish language commercial, but it doesn’t have quite the same message as the English-language one. (He’s also wearing a shirt in that one.)

At the 25-second mark, the ad also features some fine print — very different from what’s normally shown on a law firm’s advertisements.

“Dannny Trejo isn’t an attorney or a client,” the message says. “He’s a paid badass. If you need to take down a drug cartel on screen, hire Danny. But if you need to take down an insurance company in real life, hire Bergener Mirejovsky, attorneys licensed in California.”
